"Powerful Solutions for Our Changing World"

Tools

  • Voltage-Drop Calculator - simply enter the details for your project in order to calculate the estimated voltage drop of your system.

  • Solar & Wind Calculator - this tool will estimate the size and cost to install an energy system for your home or building. Technology options include solar electric (PV), solar water heating, pool or spa heating, space heating & cooling, and wind turbines. The financial analysis provided is based upon energy bill savings you can expect and the net system cost, after tax credits and other incentives are applied. The results are based upon many assumptions and the limited data you will enter. An actual site assessment by a trained professional Contractor will be needed to determine the actual costs and benefits of installing an energy system. (United States and its territories only.)

  • Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency - DSIRE is a comprehensive source of information on state, local, utility and federal incentives and policies that promote renewable energy and energy efficiency. Established in 1995 and funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, DSIRE is an ongoing project of the N.C. Solar Center and the Interstate Renewable Energy Council.

  • Sustainable By Design - provides a suite of shareware design tools on sustainable energy topics including Sun Angle Tools, Window Tools, Panel Shading and Climate Data.

  • PVWATTS - PVWATTS v. 1 can be used for locations accessible through links on the map, or through a text list for U.S. sites; or for sites outside the US, through text lists by region. Researchers at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory developed PVWATTS to permit non-experts to quickly obtain performance estimates for grid-connected PV systems. Also available is an option to output hourly performance data. This option can be run after the inital calculation, and outputs the data in a separate browser window. Instructions for saving the output to a text file can be accessed through the "Help" link at the top of the hourly output page.
